Mama (+baby) circles in Austin
Nurture Neuroscience Circles
Nurture Neuroscience Mama (+Baby) Circles are small-group gatherings for expecting and new mothers in the Austin area who want postpartum support with:
Expert guidance by a Nurture Neuroscience Trained Practitioner;
Connection with other like-minded mothers;
A focus on nurture, attachment and parental intuition;
Practical, science-backed education about themselves and their babies; and
Time for reflection and nervous system regulation.
Whether you’re 5 minutes or 5 months postpartum, your brain (and identity) is undergoing the biggest shift in your adult life. THE BIGGEST! It’s called matrescence — the becoming of a mother. It’s messy, long, disorienting and it feels like nobody prepared you for it.
For me, leading these circles is extremely personal – had these existed when I had my first baby, I truly believe my postpartum experience would’ve been MUCH easier, calmer and more joyful.
I hope you can join me.
With love,
Sasha

Nurture Neuroscience Circles –
Mama + Baby
Based on the bestselling book, The Nurture Revolution by Greer Kirshenbaum, PhD, the objective of these circles is to teach mothers the science and the art of growing lifelong health for their babies and themselves. Babies have incredible brain development from 0-3 years, and when we provide nurture, we create brain circuits that create mental and physical wellness for life.
Mothers also have incredible brain development when they have babies 0-3 years old, and when we nurture mothers, we dramatically improve their mental health.
In a series of 8, 90-minute gatherings, we cover the key topics that mothers need to know to grow lifelong health for their babies and themselves.
What you get in each Nurture Neuroscience Circle session:
An expert (that’s me!) to guide you and answer all of your questions about your baby and yourself.
A nourishing practice for you.
A practice to connect you with your baby.
An opportunity to learn a new health-promoting topic each week.
An opportunity to share your experience, ask questions, and receive support from peers in your group.
It is not a series of lectures – it's an opportunity to deepen your relationship with your baby and yourself. So you can walk away feeling more empowered, more confident, and more yourself.
The science behind the Nurture Neuroscience Circles
This circle is built on The Nurture Revolution by Greer Kirshenbaum, PhD, a neuroscientist whose work gave language and evidence to something mothers have felt in their bodies for a very long time.
First, your baby’s brain does the most dramatic building between birth and three years old, and it builds itself out of the experiences you give it. Every time you respond, soothe, hold, feed, and come back, you aren't simply comforting her in that moment — you're laying down the circuitry she'll use for the rest of her life to handle stress, to feel safe, to be close to people. Nurture isn't a nice-to-have.
What we don’t hear about often enough, is that the mother’s brain is also changing at the same time. And we nurture mothers through this change (and they nurture themselves), their mental health improves for the rest of their lives.
You and your baby are intertwined in more ways than one. You are a dyad that thrives together in the most beautiful way.
That's the premise of this circle, and why mothers all over the world are joining in.
Mama + baby circle FAQs
Things you might be wondering
-
Yes! Feed her, rock her, walk the back of the room, change her on the floor. We are all moms and we get it!
-
No. Nothing is recorded, ever, and nothing leaves the room. We want the space to feel safe to share what feels authentic. Sasha will take photos of the room for use in future marketing, but only with permission.
-
Everyone will get a summary of the weekly practices and knowledge after each session, so you can catch up before the next one.
-
No. It's education and peer support, held by a trained practitioner. If something comes up that points to a need for more support, I (Sasha) am happy to point you in the right direction.
